Pete and I had an amazing weekend!!! Although it was much too short. Really we just had 1 day together because Pete went to Utah on Friday for his best friends wedding and didn't come back until Sunday morning. I think he would have liked to stay longer but I insisted he come home because since I was in between rotations I didn't have any homework and I really wanted to do something fun with him.
Our fun adventure consisted of a hike through Silver Falls State Park. We had planned on just hiking for a mile or 2 but each time we got to a new waterfall we seemed so close to the next waterfall that we couldn't help but go just a little further. When all was said and done our 2 mile hike turned into more like 9-10 miles. Above is a picture of us at the first waterfall, South Falls.

Along the way there were lots of beautiful things to look at. One of my favorite things was this really old large tree trunk that's core had rotted out. There was a small opening in the trunk just big enough for me to squeeze through. I instantly recognized it as the coolest fort ever and rushed in.
Pete tried to come in too but he was just too muscular to fit through such a small hole.
The second waterfall we came across was called Lower South Falls. (they weren't feeling very creative when they named these falls.) I thought it was really pretty.
The trail we were on was pretty sweet because it always seemed to bring you right up next to the waterfalls and then back behind it if at all possible. We had a fun time hiding behind the sheets of water where I may or may not have stolen a kiss or 2 from Pete :)
Another one of my favorite parts about this hike were some of the bridges...Ever since I married Pete I have gained a new appreciation for bridges. (When he was younger his family would take massive detours when on road trips just so Pete could see some special bridge.) I just love the way they look.
Above is a picture of the 3rdwaterfall we came across, Lower North Falls and below is the 4th, Double Falls.
The 5th waterfall we came across was Drake Falls, pictured below.
And then of course there was the 6th falls, Middle North Falls, another one of my favorites.
We hiked behind this falls too and then hung out for a while in a little cave on the other side where the trail hit a dead end.
In addition to all of the falls there were also a bunch of creeks and streams that I thought were also beautiful. Here I am next to one of my favorites.
Below is a picture of the 7th falls we saw along the hike, Twin Falls.
And then there was the North Falls pictured below which seemed to be the most powerful of them all. It was the 8th falls we saw along the way.
And then finally the 9th and falss we visited was Winter Falls.
I couldn't believe how many waterfalls were packed along this trail. The trail itself was called Trail of Ten Falls. We only saw 9. I don't know how we missed the 10th and final falls but 9 out of 10 isn't so bad if you ask me. By the time we were done with the hike I was a mess. COVERED IN MUD!
But it was most definitely worth it. Actually it made me wish I had my own pile of mud to play in. I just wish every weekend was just as much fun. We had such a great time.

I miss oregon..it really is so beautiful.
Yeah, I really can't get over how much I love your hair. Love it!!
Wow! When you get a chance, you two definitely know how to have a good time. I need to get out and explore nature a bit more. I think Zaida would love it, especially the mud. All those waterfall pics make me want to go hike or something - if only I could find a mountain in Nebraska.
Sandy - I can't get over how fun and flashy your hair it. I think it looks great and fits you well. I especially love the color. If only I could fall in love with a hair-do for me. Any suggestions?
