I just finished up my ER rotation at Mt. Hood Legacy Emergency Department. I was able to work with a lot of amazing MD's there and I had a great time.
Highlights of this rotation...
1. Watched a Dr. perform a successful emergency cricothyrotomy. (It was the 1st time in his many years of practice that he had needed to do one.)
2. I was able to incise and drain a few abscesses-ouch.
3. I got to see Hidradenitis Suppurativa.
4. I learned how to do a digital nerve block.
5. I relocated a patella and a fractured pinky toe.
6. I saw a fractured and grossly displaced ankle. (if you only knew...)
5 rotations down...JUST 5 MORE TO GO!!!

Awesome! I love the ER! My big experience there was a snowmobile accident where the guy had part of a tree stuck in his upper thigh/glut. He was fully conscious and just fine, but they were worried about an artery strike so there were lots of people in the ER's OR. He looked around and made a joke about how we were all there to look at his rear.
Hope your next rotation is just as exciting!
