Monkey Face

For the holiday weekend Pete and I decided to take a quick trip to Smith Rock and climb the Monkey Face. (Which was convenient since I had to move to Bend this weekend anyway.) This picture of Monkey Face is from one of Pete's previous visits to Smith.I haven't had the chance to climb much lately so we decided to take the easiest route up which also turned out to be the busiest route up. By the time we moseyed on over to the base of the climb there were already 3-4 groups on it, so what should have been a 2 hour climb turned into an all day hang out.Which, I thoroughly enjoyed because it was nice and sunny for the majority of the day. Here we are at one of our belay stations were we basked in the sun for a little over an hour waiting for the party ahead of us to get far enough ahead. When we were just about to start our very last pitch the weather took a turn for the worst. We could see and hear a thunderstorm rapidly approaching. Luckily the rain didn't reach us until we were repelling down. Here we are enjoying the very short summit experience.
