Returns

Ok, I'll admit it...I'm sentimental, always have been. I just get attached to things. I can't help it.
...
I still have my first stuffed animal, Opus.
I still have my first pair of converse.
I still have the first outfit a boy told me I looked cute in.
I still have and wear my rusty colored fleece (Old Faithful) Pete helped me pick out when we were dating .
I still have my first pair of climbing shoes.
And I still have my 1st climbing Harness, now 5-6 years old.
...
For the past 2 years Pete has been trying to convince me that I needed a new harness. He kept saying mine was too old and wasn't safe but I liked my old harness and I thought it looked good and sturdy and I am sentimentally attached to it. Needless to say Pete was persistent and bought me a new harness. It was neon yellow. I hated it, so...I kept wearing my old harness. Then he picked out another harness that he thought I would like better. It was green and grey with a white strip. I did like it better than the yellow harness but still not as much as my original harness so...I kept wearing my old harness. By this time I figured I had better take matters into my own hands before our house filled with harnesses, so I went out and found the perfect replacement. I bought the Arc'Teryx R280 women's climbing harness. It is the raddest harness I have ever seen. I am so excited about it. It came in the mail today. I put it on right away and wore it around the house all day :) It is very comfy and stylish.
We now have 3 brand new small women's harnesses at our house. One which cannot be returned, one which needs to be returned, and one which I absolutely love. We also have one medium men's harness that needs to be returned. After I bought my harness Pete was so excited about it that he bought the men's version for himself. Unfortunately, his harness didn't fit as perfectly as mine. So basically we have hundreds of dollars worth of harness at our home that we need to return/sold. :)
...
While I am on the subject of returns I am reminded of our last return fiasco. A little over a year and a half ago there was a killer deal on Steep and Cheap for this light weight jacket that looked just like one Pete had just purchased the day before. I bought it, figuring that if it fit we would save over 100$ by returning the other jacket and if it didn't fit we could simply return it. Turns out it didn't fit. Pete said he was going to return it and I completely forgot about it. Months went by. Then one day the subject of the jacket came up again. Pete hadn't returned it and we couldn't find it. After retracing the past few days I realized that while cleaning the apartment I had thrown away the bag that it had been delivered in. I didn't even think to look inside and the jacket was so light weight that I couldn't tell anything was in the bag. I felt so sick inside. I had just thrown away somewhere around 200$. But I refuse to take all the blame. Pete had months to return that jacket. It wasn't funny then...but it is a little funny now.

I love experiences that aren't funny when it happens, but looking back you can laugh about. :)

I also love that first picture of you guys at Crater Lake. What a cute couple!
